I only think of it as a girl’s name, but definitely dated to ‘80’s-‘90’s and usually in my experience as a child of that time period, a mean girl.

I don’t care for it on neither a boy or girl but it’s actually not bad on a boy.

I like it for a girl only. It's youthful but not babyish, and has a more grown-up, young-lady vibe to it. And because Courtney never really took off as a boys' name it seems entirely feminine to me. I would expect it to be a lot more popular today if it hadn't hit the scene in the seventies/eighties, ahead of its time in terms of style.

Grew up with a male Courtney, have never known a female one, just an actress of the name. Judging by the meaning, would regard it as an actual for real neutral name.

I've only met girl Courtney's, so if your name is Courtney I would guess that you're a girl.

I can't imagine the name Courtney on a boy, at all. I've known... a dozen, if not more girls named Courtney over the course of my life, most of them born between the mid-1980s and late 1990s.I've always kind of liked it, but also kind of hated it.I think it - like Brittany, Tiffany, etc. - is a name reflecting a particular moment in time that doesn't seem like to experience a resurgence.

I can only imagine a mean girl from the 90s. That's what immediately comes to mind. Like, the mean cheerleader who put gum in your hair in high school.

Impossible to imagine it on a girl: Courtney Walsh, one of the greatest cricketers of all time and a fast bowler of amazing ferocity, has made it all his own.
