I would not say something with a French accent unless I am French. And I am not. I think it is more pretentious to force an accent that is not one's own. I don't think names are limited to the borders of their countries of origin either. Anyone can use a French name not just the French. When people assume you can only use names of your direct heritage it feels a bit xenophobic.
