Isabelle
I've been really name crushing on Isabelle lately and I'm not entirety sure why. I've always kind of dismissed it because it's so close to mega popular Isabella. Isabella to me feels even more sugary sweet than my GP favorite Seraphina, like dripping in Maple syrup sweet, but Isabelle is sweet but tamer. One concern is this specific spelling would be mistaken for Isabella at least occasionally in my region. But lately I'm just warming up to it in a way I haven't previously. It feels so classy and delicate without being over the top. Plus tbh my name taste seems like it's getting more and more pedestrian with each passing day. I still dislike Isabel and Isobel though they look lopsided to me. What's your opinion? Are you pro-Isabelle or nay? What would you pair it with? What is your name crush right now? Please rate my "Names I would Use" list & "Backup Favorites" list. Feel free to rate some of my other lists too if you have the time.

I have pretty much always liked Isabelle, it’s sweet, regal, and beautiful. I prefer this spelling to Isabel but that one is just as beautiful and elegant. Isabelle is dainty but strong and interesting. Isobel however I can’t see the appeal and has always looked ugly to me. Isabella isn’t bad but overrated and I wouldn’t use it nor want to be one.I know somebody with a sister named Isabelle May.Isabelle Reine
Isabelle Florence
Isabelle Beatrix
Isabelle Octavia
Isabelle Diana
Isabelle Sarah

I really love the name Isabelle! I’ve always enjoyed this name. I also really love the spelling Isabel. I can’t decide which spelling I prefer. I also like Isabella, but that name is such a common name. Bella is a very common nickname. Also, my chocolate lab is named Belle; so I may be biased. For the record, I’m not the biggest fan of Isobel. I have absolutely nothing against Scotland. For, I literally have loads of ancestry from there. However, I’m not a fan of the “SOOO” in Isobel. That’s how most Americans would read it, probably. I know I would.

Isabelle is a French name that sounds like Isabel in English-speaking places. I don't see the point of not pronouncing it the French way, but then I don't think that would work, realistically. I find Isabel, and especially Isobel, neater and tidier and, yes, classier than pretentious Isabelle.

why is it that everything French is automatically pretentious with you? lol did you have a bad experience with a frenchmen? haha

Mispronounced French names, where I live, are pretentious. Where you live, maybe not; I wouldn't know.

I would not say something with a French accent unless I am French. And I am not. I think it is more pretentious to force an accent that is not one's own. I don't think names are limited to the borders of their countries of origin either. Anyone can use a French name not just the French. When people assume you can only use names of your direct heritage it feels a bit xenophobic.

I’m pro-Isabelle. I do prefer Isabel but Isabelle is clearly beautiful as well. Had it not become so popular, it would probably be number one or two on my list. As is, I’m starting to care much less about popularity or whether people will be impressed by my taste in names (my son is Oliver) so Isabel is actually probably near the top. I just haven’t made a list in a long time.My taste is becoming more pedestrian too, though it was never wacky or esoteric to begin with.Anyway, Isabelle is beautiful, just absolutely beautiful. It’s delicate and elegant and all the good things.

Oliver is a solid classic though tbf

Isabelle is frilly, yes, but it's not irritating like overly sweet Rosalie & Jolene or flamboyant Zéphyrine (the latter still amuses me). Although, Isabella is considered 'more natural' in my area, I still prefer Isabelle; I like how it sounds. That being said, I don't think I'd actually use it, I guess.
Strangely enough, I've been crushing on Gabrielle / Gabriel lately, (even though I dislike nn Gabby). I want to pair Gabriel with every other name, it's ridiculous. I hope, that it's just a summer fling. :) Hannah, Gwen & Eli are honourable mentions.ETA:
Isabelle Maud
Isabelle Frida
Isabelle Nadine
Pandora Isabelle
Rowena Isabelle
Saffron Isabelle

Jasperine is Zephyrine's equally awkward but pronounced twin sister imo. a GP

Zephyrine gives me life lol It feels like an elderly opera singer in 6 inch fake eyelashes lol I never cared for Gabby either. I was childhood friend's with a Gabrielle and we would call her Gabrielle in full or "Gabs" but never Gabby. As an adult I hear she has been going by Bri. I was really into Hannah for a while too, I still like it. I like Isabelle Nadine, and all of the middle name Isabelle pairings. Saffron Isabelle almost feels poetic.

I love the flow of Isabelle Fiona. Isabelle Joy is like the happiest name a person could come up with I've toyed with it before and like it. Isabelle Joanna feels like a vivacious journalist. I also like Audrey Isabelle, Hannah Isabelle and Claire Isabelle.

I love Isabelle. It's a beautiful, classy name. I do prefer Isabel myself, and don't think it looks lopsided. I also really dislike Isobel. The spelling looks so unattractive and unappealing. HTH.
