Re: Names that fell out of the top 1000

It is unfortunate about the famous name Darwin. I'd sooner compare it to Huxley than Dawson (Dawson is like Frasier to me, total tv name). I feel like it's kinda gross that Huxley is still rising but people can't handle Darwin? Huxley is a worse namesake, not to mention what it means and how it sounds.
I don't feel that the change in popularity for Susan is significant. It's been hovering between 200-250 girls/year for a while. I think it's really not time for it to come back yet. It sorta boggles me that more than 200 girls were still named Karen, though. And almost 700 Alexas?!
Seems strange that Brett and Trent are gone but Rhett is on the rise. I don't know why ... some pop-culture Rhett I haven't heard of?
I'm kinda surprised to see Cedric and Duncan fall off. I didn't think they were rising, but I thought they'd beat out something like Aldo or Granger or Maxton.

In regards to Darwin & Dawson, I meant that they share similar sounds (Huxley of course doesn't) Like why name a child Darwin when there's Dawson right there, a better alternative? Nicer sound, less baggage and less teasing.
I hear what you're saying about Brett/Trent but Rhett still being on the rise. The only thing I can contribute it to (and I could very well be wrong) is Rhett McLaughlin from the VERY popular YouTube channel, Rhett & Link (Good Mythical Morning) I personally love him. But his name, not so much! Lol And perhaps of Everett and it's current trend

I think Rhett is in the same style category that Rhys, Jett, Everett, Scarlett would be.
Brett (and to a lesser degree Trent) seems older like Brad, Brock, Brendan, Brent, Brittney, Kent, Travis, Trevor, Tracy would be imo. And people who'd use it might prefer Brooks, Beckett, Bennett, Beau, Barrett, Bryce, Jett, Tatum. There's just so many similar but newer sounding names.

I second this!
Exactly, Rhett is literary and also "unspent"
Unspent seems like the best explanation, to me.
The "Rhett Butler" thing seems to have worn off when people started using Scarlett ... maybe that's why it didn't get "spent" alongside Brett.

Good point
