I definitely don't dislike Ellie as a standalone name, but I wouldn't use just Ellie myself. I feel that there are so many gorgeous names that could nickname to Ellie that it would be a pity not to use any of them but only Ellie as a full name. Plus going with a longer name gives more nicknaming potential in case a child ends up not liking Ellie as much as I do. Also Ellie on its own, while it sounds sweet and very friendly and full of light, is not the most formal when used as a full name, and I'm not sure if it would age well.
From the three names you mentioned, I think I like Eleanor nn Ellie most. I like Ella, but, again, more as a nickname for something longer. I like the idea of going with something longer like Eleanor, Elinor etc. as the full name and using both Ellie and Ella as nicknames.
I like loads of names that could be nicknamed to Ellie, here are some of them: Elisabeth/Elizabeth, Elsa/Else/Elsie, Elise, Michelle/Michaela (Michaela pronounced mee-ka-EH-lah), Helen(a), Felicia/Felicity, Eleri, Wilhelmina, Cornelia/Kornelia, Eliza, Elin, Evelina, Melissa, Evangeline/Evangelina, Angelica, Ofelia...

This name has grown on me so much over the last few years. I actually really like it a lot now. That probably has a lot to do with my DD, because when we would talk about names, she would always say if she had a little sister that she would name her either Ellie or Rosie! I absolutely think it can stand on it’s own, but I’m cool with a lot of nn type names as full names. Of the three names listed I’d choose Ella. If I could choose another name it would be Eliora or Eliana, both of which I love.

It sounds like a country bumpkin. There! I said it.

Eleanor is the best. It is more suitable for use throughout life.

I feel Ellie doesn't have the weight as a stand alone. I like Elodie best. Others I feel could work: Ella, Eloise, Eleanora, Elisabeth, Elowen, Electra, Elise, Eleni, Elsa, Elia, Elea, Eliana, Elora, Eilonwy

Eleanor doesn't necessarily appeal to me. It feels a bit old ladyish that hasn't made the full circle back around yet. I don't hate it or anything but in terms of names of it's class it isn't my first pick.

I’m general I don’t like names that sound like nicknames as the legal name. I love the name Eleanor, and I like that Ellie becomes an option.

Ellie doesn't sound like a legal name to me, only a nickname. Ella and Elle feel like full names, but not Ellie.

Ellie on its own is a fine name but in my opinion slightly boring. I like it enough to use as a nickname, but not as a name on its own.

I wouldn’t use Ellie as a nickname for Ella. Eleanor and Elinor are basically the same to me, but I would use it as a nickname to Elinor. Eleanor is too beautiful and classic to be shortened to Ellie.

Ellie is an "old" enough name to stand alone, in the same way as Johnny, Sammy, Jackie or Jo in my opinion.
I like Ella, I sort of like Eleanor, but Elinor looks oddly short to me.

I like it. Although it is overtly common, it's also classic and cute, similar to that of 'Lily' Although unlike Lily, I can't see Ellie standing on it's own. I think it's better suited as just a nickname and if I had to pick a fuller name from the list below, I'd go with Eleanor. It's very classic, regal and sophisticated. It encapsulates beauty. Ella is nice to. I don't like the spelling of 'Elinor' at all. If it wasn't for this site, I would honestly assume it was a bizarre typo, or someone unfamiliarized with the name Eleanor, simply guessing at the spelling, like a child.

It's so pretty a nickname for Eleanor.
