Rae
A name I’ve been thinking about and that keeps coming up for me! First, through Sailor Moon Crystal (Rei) and now through Netflix’s new reality TV show "Ultimatum" that features a girl named Rae.Sooo…what do you think?

I feel like this is the redneck form of Rachel, similar to how Mitch seems like the redneck Michael to me. It's also similar to Renee or Jayden, Cayden, etc and fillery like Mae and Rose. It's okay. I like it a lot, considering I dislike several comparable names much more.I agree that Rey (as in Star Wars) looks like it'd be the most popular spelling in the US: it's more modern seeming than Rae, more feminine than Ray, less exclusively Asian seeming than Rei. I was a little surprised it didn't rise more in popularity after Star Wars came out. It's minimalist and unisex, with an ambiguous origin - seems on trend without being faddish. But anyway! I prefer Raina or Raya or Rhea.

I like it more some days than others, but probably prefer it as a middle name. I actually slightly prefer it Raye to have the line of the name look a little less round visually.

I would bet that as a given name the spelling of this is going to be switching to Rey soon because of the "Star Wars" character. We had an infant girl named Rey Alexandra baptized at my church in Omaha last Sunday.

I hate Rae. It sounds horrible and is just a filler name or bad middle name. To me is sounds country-redneckish like Bobbie Jo, Billie Jean, etc.

It suited for middle name only.

Its not popular as a first name, and its kind of cute, but as a middle name, it has become tiring.

It definitely gives me middle name energy. 2000’s middle name energy at that. Boring either way but it has quirk. Rei is better aesthetically and slightly more interesting.
