I like Darby. The only Darby I ever knew was my friend's elderly neighbor (a woman) so it has a sweet retro vibe for me, very homey and cozy and rather endearingly nosy. "Bee" names are very cute, I agree.
I'm not sure why Darby isn't more popular. Maybe because it sounds very similar to the word "derby" and for whatever reason people aren't a fan of that?

I knew a female Darby growing up and she never liked her name. Our classmates thought it wasn't attractive as well. I suppose because it's awkward sounding.
