I think these names are very dated and I can see people in there 40-60s being named this

Vanessa- no real opinion, better than Veronica
Samantha- nice, solid name
Miranda- feisty and modern
Sandra- boring
Virginia- it's ok
Melissa- dislike

Vanessa - rather surprisingly, I like it very much; almost enough to use
Samantha - dislike all Sam- names; Samantha is stodgy and dated
Miranda - beautiful for a mn; I'd avoid it as a fn to avoid Randy as a nn
Sandra - must have been pretty once; I much prefer Alexa
Virginia - no; I don't like place names or botanical names, I dislike Ginny, and I don't drink gin. And, what's so good about virginity anyway?
Melissa - so sweet, it's almost sticky; as meanings go, I prefer the more austere Deborah

My favorite is Miranda. The rest I'm just kind of meh on, neither like or dislike

Vanessa: The Va sound puts me off, but the Nessa part is pretty.
