I don't get the appeal of Gavin AT ALL. It looks and sounds awful to me, and I class it as one of the worst names out there. Sorry.
I like it. No particular reason.
Years ago I didn't like the name Gavin at all. This was likely because I'm not a big fan of Gavin DeGraw and his music was everywhere when I was in high school (especially the song "I Don't Want to Be").
Now I don't mind the name, though - it's similar to Kevin, and I've always liked Kevin (even though it's fast becoming dated).

I love a lot of Arthurian names and their relatives. But I hate Gavin. It feels kind of... douchey. Don't know why.
I have no idea why I still remember this, but it was the name of the little brother of this one guy I knew in... Preschool. Unfortunately that has caused me to have a really hard time picturing it on anyone above the age of 3, despite it being pretty far from a "babyish" name.
Love it! Enough that I used it for one of my kids.

I've never met a Gavin I didn't like. It's a good name, not one that I'd be likely to use and not as good as Gareth, but good.
