I love the name Hugh, and it's one of my favorite names.
I like that it honors family for you.
I tend to vary about how well it will age, but I think it would work just fine for all ages. Although a younger Hugh would inevitably be called Hughie / Huey at some point.
I think of a person named Hugh as strong, sophisticated & talented.
I tend to use family names for middle names, so I'm not certain what to suggest to you.
Hugh Alexander sounds great though!

I sort of like Hugh Lawrence, Hugh Charles, Hugh Frederick, and Hugh Joseph. But they all sound a little off with the last name...
