Amelie and Amélie

I love the name Amelie! I like it with or without the accent. Even if the proper French spelling is with an accent, I wouldn’t use an accent if I were to name the child Amelie. As an American, I would fear coming off as pretentious with the accent, plus the issue with documents not readily having the accent available. The more I look at Amélie, the more I agree with someone’s comment that it looks more “complete” than Amelie.
I also like Emily and Amelia. Emily is a little more dated but I think it will make a comeback, and Amelia is quite popular. Amelie is a nice alternative to that.

I'd certainly use the accent; otherwise people where I live would guess either AMily or aMEEly. I like Emily very much and would still use it though probably as a mn only, in today's world. I don't enjoy Amelia at all. Amélie is fine if you're French or maybe Canadian, which I'm not. Amelie looks unfinished
