Yes, I have encountered more than one Kaylee as well as a Katelyn who went by Kaylee. I like the sound better than the visual aspect of the name. Since it has become popular more recently, it comes across as trendy and youthful.
Like Perrine, I think of it as a blended name, Kay + Lee. Kay makes me think of Arthurian myth and Lee reminds me of the Lee family in Virginia, so it is a masculine element combined with a surname to make a feminine name. I prefer Kay and Lee separately, but Kaylee isn't awful.
