Yuta – Naming RPG Characters
I'm playing the new Pokémon Legends Arceus game and decided not to play as "myself" this time and name my character something different. For those who aren't familiar, this game is set in the Pokémon universe and is based on historical (about turn of the century) Hokkaido. Hence, the default names for the two main characters/rivals are Rei (m) and Akari (f).
I didn't particularly like Rei, so I was choosing between a handful of fitting names and ended up with Yuta (particularly like the meaning being "surrounded by friends")
I'd also considered:
Bikki (an Ainu name meaning little frog)
Nanao
Akihiko
What kind of names do you choose when playing an RPG or tabletop game? How do you choose?

I'm still thinking about a name to use for Disney Twisted Wonderland, so this is relevant to me right now lol (might settle in Kieran?)
I usually try to pick something that fits the time period or vibe, and also a name I can kind of identify with. I suck at naming characters tho despite being a name nerd.

I always choose names that sounds sort of "medieval" when playing these games. Sometimes, if it's a videogame that's part of a series, I name myself in reference to a character in a past game.
