How do you pronounce the name Lucia? Do you think it would get mispronounced a lot? What are your opinions on the name? Thanks :)

It depends but my first instinct is loo-see-uh. Regardless of pronunciation, I don't like it.

I think it depends a lot on where you're located. I'm from the West Coast of the US and this name is always pronounced Loo-see-uh. I'm not sure if it's because of Spanish influence or what. I was surprised to learn on name boards that Loo-chee-ah and Loo-shuh were fairly typical pronunciations in the English-speaking world as well.

loo-CHEE-a

My instinct is to pronounce it the Italian way. I'm sure the other pronunciations will get used, but it wouldn't be difficult to enforce one over the others. I love Lucia pronounced the Italian way.

It will get mispronounced. I hear it and say it as LOOseea, but there's also looSEEa and looCHEEa ... too complicated. I am happy sticking to Lucy.

I like it and prefer it pronounced ‘loo-see-ah’ more, but I like it the other way too

My first instinct would be to say Lu-see-ah, but I can adapt to Lu-chi-ah pretty easily since one of my childhood dogs was named Lucci. As for frequency of mispronunciation, I think it depends on your geographical location. For reference I am a Midwestern United States person and here "Lucy" is the norm & usual default for the Luc- names for most people.

I automatically pronounce it loo-CHEEA unless told otherwise. I have met one person who pronounces it loo-SEEA but loo-CHEEA is more common. I like the name a lot but wouldn’t use it due to constant pronunciation issues.
