Hawthorn
I just came across the name Hawthorn. It's unisex, but I like it better for a boy. What do you think?

Hawthorn is a GP of mine for a boy. Long ago I though about writing a detective series, and my private detective was going to be Hawthorn Ramsay. :-P
I prefer Hawthorne. Definitely on a boy. I wouldn't use it, but it's definitely one of those names that appeals to me, maybe for a character.
To begin with, Haw is not an attractive sound. In WWII an Irishman who believed that his enemy's enemy was indeed his friend and therefore worked for Nazi radio propaganda was rudely nicknamed Lord Haw-Haw as a way of insulting his artificially posh accent. Add to that the fact that the hawthorn is a very thorny tree, and I think it doesn't even need a third strike to be out.
Dont like it
It's overly posh and pompous, and it's made up of some unattractive sounds.
