Why is your comment on both names essentially, "I've known someone with this name but cannot believe it's a name?" what is unbelievable about it?
I like the sound of Karthika, but it's from a different Indian Language than my husbands family speaks, so it'd be odd to use. Shivani doesn't appeal to me as much as Parvati, they are names of the same goddess.
