Re: Irrational Reasons for Disliking Names?
Cosima- Out loud reminds me of the word for cousin (f) in German (cousine). Endymion and Endellion- As much as I want to like them (they're very much my style), I just cannot imagine them on a person. They sound like perfect ship/boat or place names (some of which I do like), but not for an actual person. Cora and Vera- Characters I hate. I even have other associations with them now, but I can't bring myself to like them.Jude- I'm actually fine with it now and kinda like it, but it's somewhat related. When I first got into names and started frequenting name forums, I was adament that Jude sounded like a girls name and did not work at all on a boy, and stated so on a thread. Obviously most disagreed, and pointed out Jude Law (who'd I'd forgotten about) and "Hey Jude". Long story short, I didn't like being in the minority and proved wrong, so I threw an internal huff, and it soured Jude for ages.Sloane- Sounds slimy and slug-like. Penelope- My least favourite name, but not for a particularly tangible reason. It just feels sickly sweet, fake, and lacking in substance. I'm not a big fan of the sound, but I like Calliope, so it isn't so much that.
