I’ve known a surprising amount of Joanna’s or variant spellings. The name is okay, but a little overrated. I would probably prefer Jane if anything.
Love, love, love. Suggested it to my husband for years as a possible name, he wouldn't consider it.
It’s probably the most boring name I unconditionally love. I’m intrigued by its simultaneous timelessness and datedness, and it mysteriously boasts both down-home, approachable charm and an imperious elegance.
It's boring because classic and pretty, like Catherine or Maria.
I like it a ton more than Joan, more than Joanne, and less than Jean and Jeannine.
The look of "oa" doesn't appeal to my personal taste, so it's not a favorite of mine, but it's likeable.
My niece is a Joanna and she goes by Joanie. I've met a lot of Joannas and liked all of them pretty well.

Joanna is one of those names whose continued good reputation surprises me. To me it's quite a dated name, along the lines of Brenda or Sharon, but people still seem to think it's delightful. It's ok and everything, but I don't really see what the appeal is.
Yawn
I don’t see the appeal of either Joanna, Joan or Johanna, they all bore me stupid.
I’d rather Jane at this point, it’s more charming in its simplicity.

I can never decide whether I prefer Joanna or Johanna, which is the main reason neither is on my short list.
I like the spelling Johanna better.

Probably my favourite fem version of John. Gimme Hope, Jo'Anna and Visions of Johanna are, in their different ways and with different ways of spelling it, iconic and glorious, but here in South Africa Johanna sounds very different (you-uh-HUN-uh) so I'd only ever consider Joanna, with no apostrophe and no -h-.
It's ok
It’s pretty dated here, but I think it has a nice upbeat sound to it all the same. I prefer Johanna (any pronunciation) somewhat.
