Strange BA in my local paper..
I only found it a few minutes ago when I finally got around to reading our local weekend paper (Ballarat, Victoria) when I saw this name in the birth announcements.Peppercorn Autumn..Brave, brave parents..I hope the girl doesn't get teased. It's not that bad imho, but I can see it causing plenty of mirth when the girl goes to school and her name is read out from the class list. O-o If it was me I'd insist on going by Autumn.

I actually kind of like it. I do agree that the -corn part of the name could cause some teasing later in life but I doubt it. Most are saying that at least she has Autumn to go by but I really don't like that name. I'd rather go by Pepper or the full Peppercorn than to go by Autumn.

I love my parmesan peppercorn salad dressing. But as a name? That is just awful. Poor child. I'd insist on going through life as Autumn too.
How can anyone call her Peppercorn with a straight face?

She'll likely just be known as Pepper, or Autumnboth of which are okay. It's the "-corn" part that might get her into trouble down the road, but that shouldn't be too hard to avoid. Odd choice, though.~Lillian~

I agree with you on the pseudonym Autumn. Peppercorn could be cute, though, depending on the kid (and, God, I hope it is a girl!).-Kate

Pepper would actually be kind of cute, but not as a given name. And the "corn" part really throws me off. :-/ Hopefully she'll be as brave as her parents during her life, and won't let it get to her. :(

They will probably call her Pepper. Like in the musical "Annie".

I agree, it is weird. Autumn is ok. Although I have to say, I think Pepper is actually a sweet nn for Peppercorn. Or Peppy.
I have seen worse. And she can always go by Autumn.
