I like Marietta but I prefer Mariette. It's a sweet but spunky name.

To me it's Martin Marietta and nothing else.

I like it. In a competition with other -etta names, it absolutely crushes most of them.
It's antique but not too self-conscious, and sweeter than Mary.

It's my hometown, and naturally I love it! Just wouldn't pair it with Georgia - Marietta Georgia. lol

For some reason this name has a horror movie vibe to it. Was there a psycho character somewhere called Marietta?Well, I kinda like it. It's a bit awkward and twangy and I seem to enjoy that in names.

Could work for a character in a play or, preferably, a musical who starts out drab and bland but then something happens, she finds lurv, no doubt, and blossoms into a vivacious soprano.
