Margaret is an absolutely gorgeous name!

I'm convinced that it is one of the ugliest names in the world.

I used to like it, until I had a colleague by the name and heard it said out loud several times per day. So so ugly (the colleague was lovely, though).

I...respect Margaret, but I've never cared much for it. Marguerite, Margalit, Margareta, and Margery are much lovelier.

The only Margarets I know are children. One is maybe around 10 and she’s Katie Margaret, a double name. The other is one year old and is Margaret Therese “Margot”, named after her maternal and paternal grandmothers.

Margaret has the same kind of energy to me as Agnes. I should really like it more than I do, but I find it boring, stiff, and unfriendly. I prefer the many variations it has rather than Margaret itself.

My best friend is Margaret, but she goes by a nn. She has asked me to never post her nn. Its a somewhat unusual one. Anyway it's impossible for me to judge Margaret without bias. Granted, it is dated but it opens up a slew of nns. Also it's in the category of long-used, well-established names so to me it is always up for consideration.

Old-fashioned, but pretty in my opinion.

Don't like it

I have always liked Margaret very much, though I've never met a particularly nice or remarkable one. I would use it without hesitation as a mn; nns like Maggie and Margie (pronounced MAHgee in South Africa, not MAHjee) put me right off. I like Peggy in theory but probably not in practice.

Boring and dated.
