Noel...
First, WDYT of Noel?
Second, how do you pronounce it? I like NOLE or even NO-ul, where the second syllable is barely there. But I can't stand the French pronunciation. Since I'm living in Ottawa (which is almost equally French and English) I'd be worried that a kid named Noel would get no-El all the time.

I think I kid named Noel WOULD get no-EL all the time. Very girlie.
I like Noel on a boy, prn. NOLE. Noelle is nice on a girl prn. No-el. I think if you're in Ottawa, then he or she will be called no-el no matter what you do.

I like Noel, but only for a boy. I like both pronunciations, but if it's no-EL I prefer the spelling Noël.
For a girl I like Noëlle, preferably with the accent.

I would only use the "no-ELL" pronunciation if I saw two dots over the 'e.' (If it makes a difference, I'm from the U.S.)
I love both Noel ("nole") for a boy and Noe"l ("no-EL") for a girl.

My father is called Noel Patrick. He goes by Patrick a fair bit in this country, mainly because his name is mis-pronounced so much! He pronounces it the French way. I HATE it was people say Nole like it rhymes with hole, it just grates right across my nerves. Yuck.
I actually quite like it as a name, but I do prefer Noelle. I might use Noelle to honour him one day.
In Ireland he always goes by Noel because there are so many people in my family called Patrick.

I love Noel, but only ith the French pronounciation :-) NOLE seems ignorant for me, partly because I see this as a French name (the first time I heard it was in a French class), and it sounds like mole, pole or hole. NO-ul, again, is very American to me.
I was ignorant of the arts of seduction and had always chosen my brides for a night at random, more for their price than their charms, and we had made love without love, half-dressed most of the time and always in the dark, so we could imagine ourselves as better than we were.

I like NOLE for Noel. No-ul I would spell as Nowell (which would avoid the no-EL thing, too), which I like even better. :) Noel is awesome, though--reminds me of Noel Coward.

I say it with one syllable - NOLE.
It's ok, but I much prefer the name Joel.

Noel is nice but it seems like people would pronounce it like Noelle, which seems girly to me even though Noel is used for boys in French speaking countries. You could use Nole, which is a legitimate surname, instead or you could use the name Nolan with Nole as a nickname.

I don't like it at all, but LOVE Noelle on a girl.
I say NOLE, or NO'l, with the second syllable is extremely faint.
