Margaret Thatcher is the only association I have with the name, and it's hardly a positive one.

It's awful, for a boy or a girl. It is definitely tied very strongly to Margaret, who despite the fawning references made in a lot of "top 10 amazing women leaders" type lists, was far from being universally popular and many of whose policies are seriously debatable.
It also just sounds like thatched roofs, and also pubic hair.

My first thought whenever I hear or see this name is her, but I still love it regardless.

Margaret Thatcher was my first thought followed by Thatchers Cider.

I really like the name but think that in the uk it would still be too polarising as Margaret Thatcher was loved and hated in equal measure.
