Evelyn
Moving my question about Evelyn to a brand new thread. What do you think of Evelyn? Do you think it's become too popular? Have you met any? If you feel like it, please give me your best middle name for it, male AND female, if you like. :) **middle aged woman who angers easily**

I like the British (I think?) pronunciation of Evelyn. Eeeeeeeeevelyn. Yeah. But in Canada it would be Evva-lyn, which I like much less. Although I do like "Ev" as a nickname idea.....hmmm.I've met elderly Evelyns, no little ones.Best middles....hmmm. MaybeEvelyn SibyllineEvelyn Christopher

I met one Evelyn who was a baby. I think she would be ten now. I don't personally care for this name, but I prefer the original Aveline, the alternate spelling Eveline, and the variants Evelina. But Evelyn is very feminine, I can't picture it on a boy. I ran across the combo Evelyn Lark, which is pretty.

I like it pronounced EEV-lin, especially on men - it makes me think of Evelyn Waugh. I do think it's a shame it's this popular. I've never met one, though, as I don't live in an English-speaking country. Hmm... right now I'm feeling Evelyn Clarice (EEV-lin KLA-ris, just to he contrary) and Evelyn Ambrose.

The Evelyns I've known are all in their 60s or 70s, so it could be available for use again. I wish I liked it more, since Eva is a family name and I really don't enjoy it. Eve is fine, I suppose, but a bit thin.ETA I know an Evelyn Elsie! Her mother's name was Elsa.

My cousin’s younger daughter is named Evelyn Star, which I think is very sweet. All of her kids have a word name for a middle name, the other two being Knight and Rose.I had Evelyn at the top of my list for a long time and liked it with one or two syllable names.Evelyn Grace
Evelyn Hope
Evelyn Mae

I love the name Evelyn, but only for a girl. Evelyn May is my favourite combo and it was on my list as a possibility to use one day, but one of DH’s cousins had a little girl and named her Evelyn May! The reason I liked it, besides that I think it’s really pretty, is because it was the name of my maternal grandmothers younger half sister, who passed away shortly after birth. I thought it might be nice to use for that reason, but we will never get the chance, since it’s already taken.

It is SO popular on babies where I am. I know 3 Evelyns under one.
I don’t hate it, objectively, but am definitely bored of it.

I love Evelyn, but I’ve taken it off my list due to its rise in popularity, knowing a handful, and two being close friends kids. Two are spelled Evelyn, one is Evelin. Both Evelyns go by Evie (ee-vee); Evelin goes by Evie (ehv-vee). Combos and sibsets below where known:Evelyn RoseEvie” 8

I can't think of any Evelyns that I have personally met but am completely fine with the name making a comeback. It's one of many names starting with Ev- that I like. I probably like Evander, Evadne and Evren more than Evelyn because I think they're more interesting.
