The Polish pronunciation is actually YA-ja, with the a pronounced like in cat or mat. Polish doesn't really have an ə uh/ə sound, and a is always pronounced like the IPA /a/.

Thanks, but in my pronunciation cat and mat are pronounced with IPA æ according to this site:
