I was just browsing through a celebrity baby name list on nameberry and noticed that they are all copying from each other. The names are so boring! Not really among the general population but among them.
They also very obviously copy from each other all of the time which is kind of lame. I mean when you name your kid
Olivia or
Nora and there are lots of others that is different because they are classics but with these names that are just common among celebs it just seems so obviously inspired by someone else and uncreative and bland.
Alicia Silverstone had a Bear a decade or so ago so we all know where it came from and now every other celebrity has a Bear *yawn*. I actually don't mind Bear, but it is so bland now.
When I saw a
Christopher Alexander on the list it felt refreshing and that is saying a lot because it is actually quite the boring 90s name.
These are the names I found many many times. Which ones do you like? Which ones do you dislike? Which ones bore you when you see them in celebrity birth announcements?
Bear (also on a few girls)
Bowie (yes, his music was great but he was a bit of a creep as a person as in having sex with underaged girls, so NO)
Blue
Winter*
Ever*
SonnyHoney*
HendrixHonorBuddy (
Buddy Dessert was the worst combo)
James (ALL of the time as a middle name or first name for girls, sometimes
Jaymes)
SunnyWilder,
Wilda and Wild
Apollo*
Saint
Atlas*
PearlRioBodhiBirdieShilohRiver*
Pepper
MonroeRebel
DoveLennonPhineasBo
and
Ray,
Rae, Rey as a middle name. Oddly enough also lots of
Jane,
Jean,
Joan,
June,
Jo middle names even though they feel a bit tired.
Rose and
Grace as well but pretty much no
Marie anymore.
The more classic ones that were very popular:
Philip (I think this is because
Prince Philip died because these were born in 2021 and with this it is not so obvious because it is a classic, just adding it for completeness)
JosephineWillaEloise
Starting to see
Lark,
Larkin more too.
I marked the ones I like with a *.
Do you have any others to add?
I have nothing against these names I am just kind of wondering how, after
Cher named her son
Elijah Blue in the 70s, anyone could still think that Blue is a cool, interesting new name when it has been overused so much by other celebs.
Don't take this too seriously, I was just kind of annoyed by reading the same names over and over on the list ;)
