Love this name very much!

I do like it, but prefer it as a mn.

I love the flower but it just seems clunky as a name.

I can't speak to popularity, since I don't monitor statistics of names outside the Top 1000 that well.

Outside of that... I feel like this is a name I should like, but I don't. Not that much. I like the flower well enough, but the "lav" beginning of Lavender doesn't sound... name-y? Probably because "lave" is a verb (to bathe), and because of "lavish." It just doesn't sound like a person's name.

On the flip side, I do like Lavinia, which has the same three-letter beginning; but the vowel is more of a schwa than an actual short-A, so it doesn't remind me of those words.

I would not be surprised if it makes the top 1000 soon. I have warmed up to it over the last few months for basically no reason...when that happens I tend to assume it's a social phenomenon. And I fell in love with Lilac and Vesper recently, which I guess is partly because Lavender has started to seem more "normal" now, since I get similar images from all three.

I wonder if eventually it might seem like Heather does to me; I hope not...although on the off chance it does get very popular, I'd still prefer the sound of Lavender to Heather.

I’m kind of in love with Lavender right now. It’s whimsical and delicate, and it evokes beautiful imagery. I think it straddles the line between normal and strange, but in a good way.

I find Lavender very charming.

I adore Lavender! It's a more unusual floral name with all the associated imagery, but also has a good deal of feistiness and mischief to it, thanks to the Matilda character. I think as a result, Lavender is beautiful and has a load of personality and fun.

Don't really like it

I like it! I've liked it since I read the Anne of Green Gables series where a character was named this, although apparently there it was spelled Lavendar but young me didn't even notice or at least I can't remember noticing. I like the sound, I like that it's an "L" name, I like the "v" in the middle, and I like the flower/scent association.

It seems very whimsical. I like whimsical names so I'd be happy to meet a Lavender. I'd be curious what they go by for short.

I'm growing to like rather "unconventional" Lavender and Lilac (Lilac is in bloom now:), maybe because I'm a bit tired of many plant/flower names e.g. Iris, Rose, Violet.

I dislike it. It's so... soapy. As in reminds me of lavender scented soap or perfume worn by someone's grandmother.

I fell in love with it last year and the love has lasted. :)

I think it’s just really really lovely. Not my usual style but I really enjoy it.

It's pretty. I've met several pets named Lavender. But no humans. I wouldn't mind meeting one. But I'd be really surprised if it ever rated that high in the US.

It's a nice name. I like it, but it sounds too strange to join the top 1000 names in the US.

It's lovely. Someone on here posted about Lavender Nelle like a month ago and I was a huge fan.

I strongly dislike the sound, unfortunately. It seems complex, technical, cold. I prefer Lavanda (the Italian form as well as the word itself). It is sweeter and more immediate to me.
