HelpHonest Question About Cultural Appropriation and Names
I have a minor situation believe it or not and I just want to ask a general question: Is it bad in the slightest to use a name that is different ethnically and culturally on your child? Cultural appropriation.
Let's say for example...
There's a couple who wants to use the name Maiara. The name is Indigenous American is the couple is European. Another lady (who happens to be Native herself) is trying to convince them to use another name considering that is cultural appropriation and to stop "stealing people's culture". Is it still okay to use? Ignore if you want.
