Harry
Thoughts on Harry as a full name?
ETA: Alternatively, what do you think of Harold with the nickname Harry?

I WAS going to comment positively on the Harry Styles association, but then I saw the comparisons to "hairy". Now I can't shake it!

I don't like that it is a homonym for hairy. While I've met a few very elderly Americans with the nickname Harry, it seems more common in Britain.

I hate both Henry and Harold; they sound frumpy and bloated (sorry to anybody who likes them lol)Harry, on the other hand, I think does very well as a full name. I love the name Harry, though I feel it is far too common

Harry is just acceptable as a full name, mostly because Henry is so limp and floppy. But I'd rather use it as a nn: I'm not fond of Harold, but Harald would be OK.

It makes me think of "hairy" and "hurry" and I ALWAYS immediately think of Prince Harry. For some reason Harry Potter never comes to mind even though I read that a lot as a child and an adult.Harold nn Harry is kind of old fashioned but cool. I think I prefer that. You could also do Henry nn Harry.

Hairy. Don't like Harold at all, bad association

I always prefer Henry, but I can't but love it. Harry Potter is to blame))

It's ok

I like it, but it’s very very popular where I live. It doesn’t sound like hairy in an English accent, so doesn’t have that problem here.

I want to like it. I like several namesakes and it has a pleasant association for that reason. But God help me, as much as I'd rather not, I hear "hairy" every time. Pair it with a second name and I hear "Hairy John", or whatever. It feels almost juvenile, but there you have it.
