Re: Lucine
I don't think it means moon; Lucy/Lucia/Lucille mean "light" and Lucine is from the same root. Selene does mean moon, you may have gotten them mixed up?The only lucy type name I like is Lucia, though Lucille is also okay. Lucine sounds chemically with that "cine" ending. Like Lucite or lutein. Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!

It’s a variant of Lusine, which comes from Armenian lusin (լուսին) meaning “moon” or “the moon”, not “light.” :)And as another poster pointed out it’s pronounced loo-see-NEH!

https://www.behindthename.com/name/lucineLucine does, in fact, mean "moon" - as it is an alternate transcription of Lusine.

Looking at this:I prefer the spelling Lusine. That said - most Americans would pronounce it loo-sine, instead of lu-see-nah. The latter is beautiful, but it would require a lot of explanations in the US. I'm not sure where Ciara is from.

I prefer Lusine myself.
