Re: Vivica / Viveca
in reply to a message by rem
Yeah, I don't understand why it isn't more popular. It seems to me like it would be, since it's sorta similar to Jessica and Vivian. I guess a lot of people see it as a one-person name (Vivica Fox)?I like Viveka and Viveca better than Vivica. I'd rather pronounce it vih-və-ka, than viv-vik-ka. I don't generally like names with repeated syllables. And I guess Vivica makes me think of Vivitar ... it looks brand-name-ish to me, too close to the word vivid. Vivian would also, but since that's a more commonly seen name, and not so celebrity-associated, it doesn't matter for my impression of Vivian, like it does with Vivica.Viveka looks like Vivek - seems like an Indian / Sanskrit name. So it's got two possible derivations. I like that about it.
And Viveca is just aesthetically pleasing to me - the c softens it up a little, visually.- mirfak

PronunciationYes, I guess I do pronounce more like vih-və-ka, so maybe Viveca is a better spelling.
