What's your opinion on the name Rainer? Do you think its a unisex name, strictly for boys, or just girls?I like the name, its kinda growing on me to be honest.

I'm always thrown by the names people ask about being unisex. This is a rather masculine male name. It's quite Germanic; in the US I'd expect it to be used by people named after their German grandfather. I find it hard-nosed and martial, handsome on someone else.

It's not unisex, but I like it for a boy. I prefer Rayner, though.

I prefer the spelling Reiner because as Rainer I always want to pronounce it 'rain-r'. But it is a very attractive sound. Strictly male though.

As Rayner, it's just another lnfn. Which could be used as a mn if it was a family name.As Rainer, I'd expect to see their brother Stormer and sister Gail.

Gosh, it would never occur to me to use it for a girl. I do sort of like it. But only for boy.

Raynor is my grandmother's maiden name. It's spelled various ways in genealogical records. I think the end sound "ner" is more masculine. Just keep in mind that people will probably shorten it to Ray.
