I like it allright on someone else's little girl. It has grown on me. It makes me think of the song "The Briar and the Rose." https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-QEFw15WlEw

I really like it on a boy, sort of like it on a girl (but only in the right combo).

Ok on a guy but I don't like it on a girl. It makes me think of Br'er Rabbit and overall I don't like it as a name.

Nope.Yikes! I do not get the appeal at all. A briar patch is prickly, thorny and unattractive. Using the term "briar" (or in full "briar hopper") to describe a person is akin to calling them a hillbilly or country bumpkin in my region. It's literally an insult.

I like it as a guilty pleasure. It is prickly, but briars are also protective. I also like Bracken, but prefer the sound of Briar.

I think we had a thread on this recently. I don't like it. It doesn't sound nice and reminds me of trendy 80s/90s names such as Brianna and Brooke.

Very unattractive, growling sound, and briars are not pleasant.

Well, the Aurora post made me think of Briar Rose - and then I look again and see this post! Did you have the same thoughts? :-)Anyway, I quite like Briar, as I do many nature names (though Briar Rose together, today, is a bit corny). I used to dislike it because I thought it looked like a typo for Brian, but I don't see it that way anymore. I definitely prefer Briar to the similar-sounding botanical name Bryony (which I keep thinking sounds like "brine-y").
