I don't much mind the datedness, but I find
Mandy absolutely horrible and a total turn-off. There's a
Noel Coward play that I forget the name of, with a leading character named and called
Amanda. Later in the play, up turns a younger woman that we aren't supposed to like: she smiles and says "I shall call you
Mandy" and the
Amanda character says resignedly "Yes, I suppose you will", which pretty well sums it up.
