I’m sure there have been many Cleo posts before, but what do you think of it as a male name?

Inspired by the great great grandparents post - I have a great great grandfather named Cleo.

I LOVE Cleo for a girl, but not a fan of it for a boy. As a nn for Cleophas or something, then I can handle it! Not that I really like any of the longer masculine names for the nn Cleo.

I slightly prefer it on a female, but it's also pretty as a masculine name.

You already know that I like it. It makes me think of a studious African-American guy with glasses. It's a nice image.

Although it's also nice as just a nickname.

Cleo is 100% feminine to me. Just because it ends in "o" doesn’t mean it’s automatically masculine. There’s always Cleon.

I think it could work on a boy, yes. I prefer it on a girl, though.

Clio is all female to me because of the muse.

In you multiple great-grandpa's case could Cleo have been short for Cleophas or something? Cleo has been associated with Cleopatra and/ or Clio the muse of history. It is quite feminine.

It’s possible it was short for something, but I’m not too sure. All the historical records and such just say Cleo.

It doesn’t seem the slightest bit male to me. I think that thought is awful, actually.

Clio is so vastly preferred by me over Cleo for females, that I’d never support Cleo.

Interesting. I've never known a male Cleo. But I could see it working. Was it short for anything?

It’s possible it was short for something, but I’ve only ever heard him called Cleo.
