I prefer May, I think; perhaps because it's a family name with good memories attached. Rose, on its own, is sentimental and hackneyed, and Lynn is lacking in personality, a beige cardigan of a name.
I could see a name like Belinda having Lynn as a nn; that would be OK, just as Rose is as a nn for Rosemary or Rosamond. But on their own, no.
