Calum is more common there and it affects my associations. The American version would be a "bro". Picture a group of annoying, drunk, high school or college guys.
Calum doesn't quite give me that exact vibe, because I think of it on a younger person, but it seems like it was more of a 90's-2000's name in the UK (or at least
Callum was).
