Ada’s nice, a little unsubstantial as a first name but very cute as a nickname.I don’t think it would be confused with Ava if it was pronounced “A-da”. If it was pronounced “AY-da”, then it would definitely need constant correcting.Adelaide Mary Jann flows nicer than Adelaide Jann Mary. Though, Adelaide looks a bit strange next to much simpler Jann and Mary.Adelaide Claire Annette is beautiful.

It would be pronounced AY-da because I am native to one English speaking country and live in another English speaking country. I'm not European, nor do I speak any Germanic or Scandinavian languages so it would be odd for me to insist on the A-da pronunciation, even though I like it very much!Thank you for your reply!

I think if I knew it was short for Adelaide I might assume it was A-da, but if I just saw Ada on its own I'd assume it was AY-da.
