Therese is yes, Mercedes is no. And fro the record they don't sound alike at all.

I really like both names.Mercedes is The Count of Monte Cristo first, car second to me. And that’s probably my favourite book ever so I the name is very positive to me. Therese I pronounce with three syllables. Te-RAY-suh. I think it’s lovely. I don’t think Mercedes and Therese are too similar. They go well together but they’re not matchy-matchy by any means.

Other than ending with an 's' sound, I don't find them similar. Therese/Theresa seems very wholesome and subtly mother earthy. If I were going to put the goddess Demeter in a more modern setting, I would call her Theresa. Mercedes brings to mind cars and "The Count of Monte Cristo." Two very different associations that are a bit jarring when paired.

They don't sound alike at all. I had to think for a minute to see why you might think they did and all I can come up with is the ee ending. But they are so different: Mer-SAY-DEEZ and Ter-EEce.
I really like Mercedes.

How do Mercedes and Therese sound similar at all? If anything, they’re very different but match well.I love Therese (and Thérèse even more). Mercedes looks pretty but I can never get the car association out of my head. I much prefer Mercè.

Mercedes is ok. The car association is to great for me to actually use it.
I think Therese is pretty. I’d probably use it as a middle name but I still like it.

I don't like Mercedes at all. Therese isn't bad, though.

Not really?? They have very different vibes. I would like Mercedes if it weren’t for the car, Therese is very homely and dowdy to me.

They sound a little alike, but nothing to worry about
