Carmella & Marcella
I'm listening to a book that has a character called Carmella, and I really like the name. It has a very warm and sweet vibe, and it reminds me of caramel. It made me think of Marcella too, since they're anagrams. I'm not sure how I feel about Marcella. It definitely has a more serious tone.
WDYT of Carmella and Marcella? Which one do you prefer? What would you think if you met sisters called Carmella and Marcella?

I like both of them a lot. I am a synaesthete and funnily they both have very similar feel to me in terms of synaesthesia, and that was long before I realised they're actually anagrams.
Carmella is warmer and sweeter, kind of more approachable, and I like it a little more. Marcella is more down to Earth but also has a more fresh, kind of airy, crispy feel. I don't perceive is as dated. I don't know anyone named Marcella and the sound of the name itself feels rather youthful. Carmella isn't strongly associated with any age for me, though if I were to imagine a Carmella I think it would be a middle-aged woman. I like Carmel slightly more than Carmella, and I like the religious associations of them both and the botanical meaning. I also love Marcelline more than Marcella.
Sisters Carmella and Marcella would be awesome as long as they'd have some more distinctive nicknames.

Carmella’s too sugary for me. Sure, it might be farther from “caramel” than Carmel, but it’s still not my type. I prefer Carmen.
Marcella’s nice, but I can’t stop seeing it as Marc + Ella. Prefer Marceline.
Carmella and Marcella would make a cute sibset, though, maybe a little too cute, as they’re similar but not too similar.

Funny because I’ve always loved Carmella but not Marcella. Marcella just sounds dated to me.
Though I’ve usually seen Carmella on elderly women, it doesn’t sound dated. It’s very appealing—I like the warm, caramelly vibes of it like you do.
I’ve always liked Carmel (I actually have a cousin named Caramel, believe it or not, and I much prefer Carmel!) but I like how Carmella makes it a little less candy-esque.
