Cassidy
What do you think of Cassidy?Never knew it had been so common (top 25 in Canada). In the USA it was in the top 100 for just one year, 1999. Do you find it 90s/00s?I think it has this late 90s/early 00s teen comedy vibe, kind of like Skylar or Bailey.

I've only ever met one Cassidy (I'm Canadian) and they were male. I agree it feels like a mean girl in an early 2000's teen comedy. That's a perfect description.

I've always liked it. Not enough to use, but I think it's kind of cool. I've never met a Cassidy; it wasn't very popular when I was born (mid-500s), so it doesn't really feel dated to any particular era to me.I do kind of get a similar feel to Skylar. Bailey not so much. Bailey feels really insubstantial to me, and I don't get that from Cassidy.

I agree with your assessment of it. It seems similar to names like Bailey, very insubstantial to me. I've never liked it. It also always make me think of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Where I live, there's a range of adult female clothing called Miss Cassidy, which is made for largeish ladies who want to look at least somewhat fashionable. So that doesn't help; nor does Hopalong!I knew a Cassie a long time ago, and she was very elderly then: in her case it was a nn for Catherine; the closest she could get to her name when she was a tiny child.

LoveIt sounds cute. Nn Cass, after our beloved Mama Cass of the Mamas & the Papas.

David Cassidy. It's 70s to me. I like it.

HateIt sounds whiny to me, and the name itself has a tawdry feel. Cressida, on the other hand, is a beauty. I also like Cassiopeia and Cassandane.

I love Cressida and Cassandane as well! Cassiopeia is a little too much for me, though.

I like it. I wouldn’t choose it myself but I like it. I knew a guy named Cassidy born in the 70’s. I think it goes well for a boy or a girl. Surprised it didnt become more popular in the states as it seems like a name that would have.

Agree about the Skylar vibe. Not Bailey - Bailey has persisted and now sounds to me like a little baby name.Cassidy should be like cool and clever and smart and a little tomboyish.I think it's sort of fun but I don't find it personally attractive. I like Cassie fine and Cassandra pretty well.I do think it's kind of cool as a boy name.

As surnames on girls go, it's one of the few that I find mostly unobjectionable. I think because it sounds close to Cassie. Not that I'm a huge fan of Cassie, but what I mean is that Cassie is an established feminine name.

I like it for a boy. It sounds earthy and green. I like the nn Cass, too. On a girl it sounds very 90s and bubblegum pink, which I dislike greatly.

As a teenager, I preferred this to Cassandra as a "Cass" name. I still like the sound of it. Though I prefer it as a feminine name, a man can pull it off - but in my eyes he'd need to be more Butch Cassidy than Keith Partridge for it to truly work.Incidentally, I also like Skylar (as a feminine name), but not Bailey.

I like it a fair amount.

I don’t like it. Too surname-y.
