Re: Opinions of Beatrice
in reply to a message by Emilie Meredith
It was my grandmother's mn and my mother's only given name. My mother liked it but not its nicknames, but when my daughter was born my mother had already died so I used it as a mn: Caroline Beatrice Mary (Mary for her other grandmother, also deceased).
Then my daughter died, and we were fortunate enough to have another one. We wanted to use one of her sister's names, and the unanimous choice (me, DH and DS) was for Beatrice as a fn. Beatrice Elizabeth Anne (mns both honouring) gave her the initials BEA, and she loves Bea (pronounced Bee) as a nn and goes by it all the time. It's given her no trouble at all, except that sometimes people assume it's Beatrix, but that's easily overcome.
