Opinions of Beatrice

I honestly don't care for it. I just never have, even despite the fact that it happened to be the name of one of my great-grandmothers on my mother's side.
I think it sounds unavoidably dated and something else I can't quite put my finger on.

I used to think it was super stuffy but then it grew on me and now I love it. I’d totally use it on a daughter. I pronounce it BE-uh-tris and I like it enough to use as a first name
Beatrice Anne
Beatrice Fleur
Beatrice Iben
Beatrice Cornelia
Beatrice Elin
Beatrice Tove
Beatrice Sophie
Beatrice Elisabeth
Beatrice Aura
Beatrice Gudrun
Beatrice Therese
Beatrice Gunlød
Beatrice Arendse
Beatrice Ziva
Beatrice Esmée
Beatrice Anne
Beatrice Fleur
Beatrice Iben
Beatrice Cornelia
Beatrice Elin
Beatrice Tove
Beatrice Sophie
Beatrice Elisabeth
Beatrice Aura
Beatrice Gudrun
Beatrice Therese
Beatrice Gunlød
Beatrice Arendse
Beatrice Ziva
Beatrice Esmée
I like but not love it. It’s ver BtN-y.

It was my grandmother's mn and my mother's only given name. My mother liked it but not its nicknames, but when my daughter was born my mother had already died so I used it as a mn: Caroline Beatrice Mary (Mary for her other grandmother, also deceased).
Then my daughter died, and we were fortunate enough to have another one. We wanted to use one of her sister's names, and the unanimous choice (me, DH and DS) was for Beatrice as a fn. Beatrice Elizabeth Anne (mns both honouring) gave her the initials BEA, and she loves Bea (pronounced Bee) as a nn and goes by it all the time. It's given her no trouble at all, except that sometimes people assume it's Beatrix, but that's easily overcome.

It makes me think of "beat rice" and I much prefer Beatrix. But it has a venerable history and a nice meaning and is certainly usable.
I used to love it, now it feels a little stuffy to me. I like the nickname Bea but pronounced like bee, not be-uh. As a middle name its perfectly fine. I don’t particularly love any of the combos though.
I think it's more than useable. It's fashionable now.
I like the name because I like the nickname Bea. It's also a family name. The sound itself isn't the softest or most appealing, which is why the name isn't high up on my list.

I hate it because the first syllable reminds me of the word "beet" and beets are one of the few foods I really hate. But I think it's perfectly usable.
