Abigail & Amelia
What do you think of these names? You can be as harsh as you want, I don't care. **Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

Amelia is my mom's hometown/county, and it's nothing to brag about. That overshadows my opinion of the name. Other than that, it just seems...mealy, bland, quaint...I like Amalia ten times more.I've always liked Abigail, since the 90s...my friend Brittany had a baby sister named Abigail, and I thought it was nice...she sounds capable to me, plus pragmatic, whimsical, tough, sweet.

Neither are favorites. I'd probably like them a good bit more if they weren't so overdone, but even so, I doubt either would be a favorite. The Gail and Meal sounds are just unattractive to me. Plus, I've taught so so many Abbys that I don't even find that cute anymore. I can appreciate Abigail in the middle name spot if it's paired with something kind of harsh. Like Virginia Abigail or Helen Abigail or Ruth Abigail. I like the toughness of these kinds of combos. As for Amelia, I'd honestly rather see Emily, even though I'm sick to death of it. It's comparable but prettier.

Abigail sounds so soft and wispy. Just a sweet name. I like it. Amelia I’ve always thought of as an odd name...something about the spelling I don’t love. I don’t dislike it altogether though and I like Amalia a lot. Emilia has grown on me and I prefer that.

I've always found Abigail boring, Abby even more so. The most emotion I can muster about it is "that sure is a collection of sounds you could ascribe to a person."Amelia's a little boring nowadays but I think it's nice. I've got a bit of a soft spot for it because of Amelia Pond from Doctor Who.

"that sure is a collection of sounds you could ascribe to a person."This made me lol. That's pretty much how I feel about Abigail. Also Matthew and Hannah.

Abigail - I feel like Abbie was so overused in the 90s? Like this was the thing before the Maddie craze took over? Anyway, although I like the sound I wouldn’t use it on a child. I don’t like the way it seems to be the name of maids in nearly all novels if they have one, and apparently it’s a slang term for servant. So - no from me.Amelia - this is now overused and boring, which is a shame because it’s quite pretty and has more substance than say something like Ella and Mia.

I dislike Abigail. It feels stilted in rhythm to be. But I want to like it, because there's cool historical ones and I do really like Gail.Amelia is beautiful, but I am just so tired of it. I've met so many little ones that I can't appreciate how nice it is anymore. Maybe in a few years that will change.

Neither of them interest me that much. I don’t love them, but I don’t hate them either.

Love them

They’re extremely bland and overused. Amélie/Amalie and Avigail are much fresher.

The only syllable I like, out of the lot of them, is Gail. Abby = Abbie = abbey = ecclesiastical building. And I don't enjoy the way the first and last syllables both get stress on them.Amelia, like some versions of Megan, gets a very self-centred vibe from that ME-E-E which is impossible to overlook. Plus, it's very close to Emily, which is one of my all-time favourites, and I can't forgive it for being so close but so very wrong.

I like both, but I like Amelia more. I used to know twins with these names.

Abigail is ok. It's strong and independent. But I cant see naming my child this.I like the nn's Abbey, Gail and Gale as full names. I thought about using Abigail as a middle name.
Amelia is sweet and innocent, but common. I suprisingly like Emilia and Emelia more. I also like Amelie and Ameline more as well.

I hate both. "Ab" "Gail" and "Meal", which is what the middle syllable of Amelia sounds like, are three of the ugliest syllables in the English language.

I used to positively love Abigail. Now I still like it but it’s not my fav. If I used it, she would definitely be called Abby.I used to hate Amelia, it was more cartoony to me because I loved Amelia Bedelia books growing up. Then I met the sweetest little girl with the name Amelia, and got to know her and now I like it. It’s a very sweet and calm name.

I like Amelia, but prefer Emilia which I pronounce differently. Amelia reminds me of Grey's Anatomy and Amelia Earhart. It feels like a cousin to Alice. Feminine, classic. I've never understood the appeal of Abigail. It looks and sounds awkward to me, and it's too biblical

I love Abigail. I wish it wasn’t so popular, but it’s sweet and pretty and timeless. It does make me think of a maid, but in a tidy, quiet, quaint, one-of-the-family way. And Abby and Gail are both nice nicknames. It’s nice to have choice.I’ve never liked Amelia. The “mealy” part reminds me of mealworms. Amelie is better for that reason but it’s still not a fave.

I love the name Amelia and it's on my list as usable for an actual child. I see it as playful and bookish and that really appeals to me.I occasionally crush on Abigail as a sweet, puritanical middle name. It makes me think of fundamentalist Christians though.
