Far prefer Helen, and would use it as a fn. Helena is needlessly long, and has pronunciation issues. Eleanor, though not etymologically linked, would work well as a fn instead of Helena - at least everyone can pronounce it.

Depends on the pronunciation. I LOVE Helen-a. I really don't like heh-LAY-na. The pronunciation thing is what's kept me from ever moving it from guilty pleasure to actual contender.

I’ve always appreciated it. The character from
Orphan Black made me love it. It still doesn’t quite make my top ten because I like Ilana more, which sounds so similar.
