It's a pretty ridiculous name, and I'm assuming the news story you read is the somewhat local to me case about the teen that murdered his family. That alone is enough to ruin the name.

Yes, that’s the one I read. It was awful.
But as I was reading it, I couldn’t help but be really annoyed at his parents, who named him that. I mean, come on! Whether you’re religious or not, it’s pretty commonly known as a sea monster.

I just looked into it and found a Washington Post article that talks a little bit about his name: The parents met at a pet store where the dad worked and married when the mom was only 16. "When the couple had their first child a year later, they named him after their favorite pet: a large snake called Leviathan. 'It was a strong name,' Norwood said. 'Something unusual.'"
