Amaryllis

I have to force myself to pronounce it correctly. My eye is always drawn to the MARY. So my first instinct is always uh-MEER-ee-liss rather than AM-uh-rill-iss. I don't like it as a name, just as a flower.
It is a bit of a mouthful, yes, but I adore it. I wish I could get my wife to agree to it haha.
Clunky rhythm. Lovely flower, but so what? And, what with the clunk and the length, it would need a nn, and what could that be? Mary? Ammie? Ryll? Marilla, as in LM Montgomery, would be vastly preferable.
It’s on my PNL and I do suggest it, but this one depends on my mood. Sometimes it feels fancy, quirky and botanical. Other times it feels ridiculous, and the “ryll” sound gets stuck in the back of my throat, making it feel unpleasant to say.
I like it a lot, it's outré and unusual. It would be prettier pronounced ə-MA-ril-is, though.
I like Amaryllis. I'm usually not big on frillier names, but I like this one. Yes, it's long, but not longer than Alexander or Olivia really.
Your combos don't really do it justice though. It feels like trying to downplay Amaryllis as if you're not quite sure you're brave enough to use it.
