Tindy isn't the usual pronunciation, which I prefer, but either way, it makes me think of tundra.

It's pronounced (Toon-Day) and it's short for Babatunde , Olatunde etc

Which Tunde do you mean? The Yoruba or the Hungarian one?
I like the Hungarian Tunde because it means "fairy" while I dislike the Yoruba one because Tunde is often a short form so I prefer the full name.
I think it is problematic in English because Tunde is too similar to tunder, tundra and tune while the pronounciation Tindy is not intuitive at all.

I know the name Olatunde, which I like. Not sure of Tunde pronounced Tindy. Why not just spell it Tindy? I think it will get mispronounced this way.

I know someone with that name and that is how it's pronounced in English not Hungarian.

...why, though? If I knew a Tunde "Tindy", I'd shrug because it's easy to pronounce and not my business, but it doesn't make sense to me.
If I'm just reading it phonetically in English, I'd say the 1st syllable the same as the one in tundra.
