Cherished classic, or old-fashioned and snooty? What is your verdict?

I love it - cherished classic. One of my top names.
It’s one of those widely-used classics that has somehow maintained its high-class feel, sort of like Elizabeth. So I’d say it rides the line between your two descriptions, actually. Usually when names get used a lot their shine dulls and they travel downward through the socioeconomic classes until people get tired of them and move on. But for some reason it still feels fresh.
I love it and it’s in our top two if we ever have another girl. It helps that it’s a family name for me.
I like Sandy, Andy and Andra as nns. Alex is a little tired and Lexi sounds low class to my ear.

Strangely enough, even though I love Alexander, I dislike Alexandra. It sounds pretentious and annoying to me, plus the Polish form, Aleksandra, is dreadfully common.
Sorry I've never been a fan
I like it, it's one of my favourite classic names. I dislike all other forms, especially Alexandria.
I think it's a nice classic. I do prefer Alexandria myself, but Alexandra is a good, strong name that I don't think feels too dated or pretentious.
Alexandra is a pretty, kindly soft girl who had a mid-2000s punk phase and is now bisexual, an LGBT+ activist and training to be a nurse.
Far from old-fashioned and snooty to me
