I think a lot of "virtue"/word names are cheesy, esp. ones that end in -ity for some reason, i.e. Trinity, Charity, and also Destiny. I just really dislike them, and Serenity falls in with that lot for me. :-/ More than anything, though, I think of the adult diapers/ incontinence pads with the brand name Serenity. Not something most children want their name associated with. :b

It is a nice name, but I prefer Serena.

I don't really care for it. I also don't like the fact that the word 'serenity' is usually in the title of retirement communities. Serenity Springs, Serenity Woods etc...

Serena is gorgeous though, and rarely used. It has the same meaning, but is more of a 'name' in my opinion.

I wouldn't use it, I don't like names that give a 'stamp' on the child. The meaning is nice, if it fits, but what if she turns out to be a tomboy?

(of course I'm a hypocrite, because I like the name Allegra, to me that's less a word than Serenity though..)
